Incumbent McCain has 51.5 percent of the votes (282,506) in the Republican primary. Challengers Kelli Ward has 39.5 percent, Alex Meluskey has 5.5 percent and Clair Van Steenwyk has 3.6 percent. In the Democrat primary, Kirkpatrick had no opposition.

In the Democrat primary, O’Halleran has 58.5 percent of the vote (29,116) to Miguel Olivas’ 41.5 percent. Babeu had more opponents in the Republican primary and has won with 31.5 percent of the vote (18,644). Gary Kiehne was second with 23 percent, followed by Wendy Rodgers with 22.4 percent, Ken Bennett with 16.5 percent, David Gowan (who withdrew from the race) with 3.4 percent and Shawn Redd with 3.2 percent.

Dickson won the Democrat primary against Kevin Taylor with 62 percent of the vote (9,511). Lamb received 17,722 votes to defeat Steve Henry in the Republican primary, with 63 percent.

Under state law calculations, the total votes of 11,639cast for all candidates required any single candidate to accrue 1,940 votes to be elected outright. Incumbent Smith exceeded that threshold and is re-elected. Brown and Kimball will seek to retain their seats in the General Election against former councilmembers Gusse and Frank.
