Two days after approving a final plat that divides the Estrella Gin Business Park into three parcels, the mayor and members of the city council broke ground for a road extension that will provide access to the park.

The Edison Road Extension will loop the east-west road north to connect to State Route 238 on the west side of Maricopa. Getting approvals and agreements in place for the road and utilities has taken three years.

A road will be built south from Edison Road to Garvey Avenue. One parcel will be north of Edison. Two parcels will be south of Edison, divided by the yet-to-be completed Estrella Parkway. As Edison Road loops north, it will be called Loma Road.
