19-year-old Maricopa woman killed in San Tan Loop 202 hit and run

Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Officers are investigating a two-vehicle hit and run collision, which resulted in the death of Else Moreno, 19, of Maricopa, Arizona. The collision occurred just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, on the San Tan 202 in the area of milepost 44.9 westbound. Detectives from the DPS Vehicular Crimes Unit (VCU) responded and are currently investigating this collision.

A Grey Dodge Charger 4-door passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on the San Tan 202 around milepost 44 when the driver, Brian Brubaker, 30, of Phoenix struck the left rear corner of a White 1994 Toyota pickup, causing it to spin out and then roll over. The Charger struck the median cable barrier and came to a stop. The driver of the Toyota pickup, J.G. Galo, 20, was injured and transported to a local hospital. The passenger, Else Moreno, 19, was partially ejected and declared deceased on scene.

Brian Brubaker fled the scene to the area of Germann and Cooper but subsequently returned to the scene and was taken into custody by DPS Officers. Brubaker was booked into the 4th Ave. Maricopa County Jail on numerous felony charges.

DPS is hoping to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this collision or observed this vehicle in the area around the time of 7 to 7:15 p.m. Witnesses should call DPS at (602) 223-2212.
