Adult softball swings into action Aug. 5

The City of Maricopa Parks, Recreation, and Libraries Department will hold its third season of adult softball in Maricopa, featuring modified ASA softball. Registration for the season has been extended to Thursday, July 26.

All leagues will play at Pacana Park, 19000 N. Porter Road. The Summer/Fall season begins the week of Aug. 5 and runs through Sept. 30 with an end-of-season double elimination tournament. The PRL Department will only accept team registrations. If you do not have a team, e-mail the department with your name, phone number, positions played and nights available at [email protected].

League fees are $325 for all leagues except the doubleheader leagues which are $400.

“The two seasons have been great,” City of Maricopa Adult and Youth Sports Coordinator David Aviles said. “The community has embraced it with open arms. If there are players who do not have a team to play on but are eager to play, we have a free agent list. We can place you on a team that’s looking to pick up a player or two.”

A mandatory coaches’ meeting will be held at City Hall on July 26. The coed meeting will be at 6:15 p.m., and the men will meet at 7:30 p.m.
