The Ak-Chin Indian Community Entertainment Center has moving seats and available jobs.

When the 12-screen theater opens Nov. 15, it will come with digital projectors and sound and D-Box seats, which are motion chairs timed to move in conjunction with the movie. For example, if an explosion occurs on screen, the seat will rumble.

Damon Rubio, executive vice president of operations for UltraStar Cinemas, said the 162,000-square-foot project is “going great.”

“It’s on track and on schedule,” Rubio said.

Ak-Chin and UltraStar didn’t just stop at a movie theater, however.

“A theater’s good, but if you could provide more than that, then it becomes a focal point of the community,” Rubio said.

The facility, which will be the largest entertainment center of its kind in the state, also will have a bowling alley called 10 Pins Down, a lounge and bar area, an outdoor amphitheater, a video arcade and a restaurant called the 347 Grill.

Construction on the project, which is being built by A.R. Mays Construction, has been moving at a steady clip since the groundbreaking last November.

Rubio said the company is hiring mid-management positions for the facility, including managers for the bowling alley, restaurant and theater.

Other positions listed on the UltraStar Ak-Chin Entertainment Center link include chefs, line cooks, bartenders, janitorial positions and cashiers.

Applications can be downloaded and submitted via the UltraStar Cinemas website. Rubio said employment seekers should not go to the construction site as it may not be safe and there are no applications at the site.
