Pinal County Animal Care and Control will be hosting discount adoption days at their Casa Grande location on Sept. 24 and 28, as well as an adoption event in front of the Maricopa Pet Club on Oct. 17.

The events at the end of September will allow residents looking to expand their family the opportunity to adopt animals at a steeply discounted rate. Puppies will be available for $100, and adult pets will be available for as little as $25.

According to Animal Control, the “Remember Me” event on the 24th is meant to bring attention to the animals that have been in the shelter for some time and need a home with a loving family. Many of these animals have only known life in a shelter, but they’re still great dogs that deserve to find a home.

“We’re here just to get the word out that we are here to save animals and help everyone find their forever home,” Riksta Dickerson of Pinal County Animal Care and Control said.

Animal control will have extended hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the “Remember Me” event to allow the maximum amount of people to come see all the animals they offer.

On Sept. 28, animal control will once again offer discounted adoptions in conjunction with rabies awareness. Owners can bring their dogs in to receive shots on this day as well.

On Oct. 17, animal control will host their monthly pet adoption in front of the Pet Club in Maricopa. At this event, Pinal County brings a small sampling of the animals they have for residents of Maricopa to find a new member of their family. The event typically takes place on the third Thursday of each month, although it was canceled in September due to the heat wave that swept in over the weekend.

“We really want to get more involved in Maricopa,” Animal Control volunteer coordinator Lynda Nesbitt said. “We have been focused in Casa Grande so far, and we’d like to branch out a bit. Hopefully this will be a regular event each month.”
