Ramon Nunez, 29, of Maricopa, was arrested near Burkett Avenue and Pershing Street Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated assault after a residential break-in the day before, according to the Maricopa Police Department.
MPD officers first started searching for Nunez Sunday after officers responded to a call from a man who lives in the 44000 block of West Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
The resident had returned to his house to find the door kicked in and the suspect, whom he identified, inside.
Witnesses told police the suspect pointed a handgun at the resident’s brother and verbally threatened both of them.
Although the suspect left the scene before MPD arrived, the resident and his brother were able to give officers a good description and tell them in which direction he fled.
After Nunez was taken into custody, officers executed a search warrant on his home where they recovered a handgun, drug paraphernalia and a stolen vehicle.
Nunez is a prohibited possessor of a firearm.
Additional charges are pending the completion of the investigation and other people may be involved, according to a MPD press release.
