Maricopa Arts Council in collaboration with Maricopa Center for Entrepreneurship is calling for art by Maricopa visual artists to display in two gallery shows.

The shows are at Maricopa Public Library and City Hall. Both have the same title: “Vivid Color.”

The gallery at the library is a first for that building. The art will hang above two conference rooms in a space that is 26 feet by 5 feet, four inches, and requires bold pieces of good size.

Art will go up Aug. 29. The show will open Sept. 9 and close Dec. 18.

The Maricopa Artists Gallery at City Hall will be the third in a series. It displays across a narrow corridor, thus affording close-up examination of the art. The gallery has been a favorite ever since its opening show Dec. 1, 2015.
Art will go up Aug. 31 or Sept. 1. The show opens Sept. 6 and closes Dec. 19.

For both shows, submitted art will be reviewed anonymously by representatives from Maricopa Arts Council and Maricopa Center for Entrepreneurship, so the quality of the art will be the single determining factor in selection. Library staff will make the final choice from among a slate of finalists for its gallery.

Eligible artists are any Maricopa residents high-school age and up. Artists should note that both galleries will stay up through the Nov. 4 Art on the Veranda artisan fair.

Applications will only be accepted in digital format, including images of up to three works per show, and must be accompanied by the required application form.  Submissions are due in between Aug. 13-16 only, with decisions to be announced on Aug. 22.

To request complete guidelines and application forms, check the Maricopa Arts Council Facebook page or send a query e-mail to [email protected].
