A Maricopa man was arrested on charges of shoplifting Oct. 23 from the Circle K located at the northeast corner North John Wayne Parkway and West Bowlin Road.

At 4:31 p.m. Maricopa Police received a call that a man had taken two 18-packs of Budweiser beer from the walk-in cold storage before exiting the store without paying. The man was described as a “Native American male in his early 30s wearing blue shorts and dark blue shirt.”

When officers responded, they viewed video surveillance of the incident from which they were able to obtain the license plate number of a black Chevy Impala the suspect entered.

A vehicle matching that description with an identical license plate number was involved in a hit-and-run accident north of the Circle K at 5:17 p.m. The vehicle was located near North John Wayne Parkway and Smith Enke Road. Aaron Narcia was the only person in the vehicle.

The two 18-packs were not located, though Narcia was identified as the man in the video. He faces a charge of shoplifting.

Narcia was released on his own recognizance by Judge Henry Gooday Jr. on Oct. 24.
