Benefits of week’s performing arts training onstage Friday

Maricopa resident, Amber Duve, wants to help Maricopa children discover their talents, and she believes her instruction can do that.

To help parents see the benefits of her teaching, Duve has been holding a weeklong performing arts class, which will culminate with a performance Friday night.

“I had seven kids come in for an hour a night, and this performance will show how much a group of kids can learn in just one week,” Duve said.

The performance will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Oasis Life Center, 19756 N John Wayne Parkway, Suite 108. All parents interested in enrolling their children in a performing arts class are encouraged to attend. “This gives those interested an opportunity to see what we can do,” Duve said.

This performance will launch Duve’s performing arts school. Regular classes are scheduled to start in September. However, this isn’t Duve’s first experience with the performing arts. “I have been teaching classes for the city and saw there was a need, so I decided to form my own classes,” Duve said.

Duve is a graduate of Maricopa High School and a long time lover of the arts. “I remember when I performed in a play in the sixth grade; from there I was hooked.”

She is the oldest child in her family and would often make her younger siblings perform in plays and musicals. “I just loved teaching them and, as I grew older, I found that I loved teaching even more than performing,” Duve said.

Duve’s arts school will focus on singing, dancing, showmanship, performing skills and confidence. The one unique aspect of her program is that there are no auditions. “All kids have talent, and they should be able to express that talent,” Duve said. Duve will offer classes, divided by age, for three year olds through teens.
