Peter Trast, Carrie Vargas and Kati Trast are among the cast of this week's production of "Blithe Spirit" by Maricopa Community Theatre.

Maricopa Community Theatre presents Noël Coward’s “Blithe Spirit” tonight through Saturday in the Lecture Hall at Maricopa High School.

In the story, successful novelist Charles Condomine (played by Peter Trast) is seeking material for his next great book. He and his wife Ruth (Cindi Calhoun) hire a spiritual medium (Kati Trast) to conduct a séance. Unfortunately, she conjures up his late first wife Elvira (Carrie Vargas), whom only Charles can see.

The resulting mayhem is the bona fide Coward farce that always includes a touch of irony, even cruelty.

David Vargas is directing this production.

Performances are 7 p.m. each night, with a special 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday that will include a Q&A session with the actors afterward called “Talk Back.” Tickets are $10 in advance (if reserved at least four hours before showtime at [email protected]) and $15 at the door.
