Butterfield Elementary School students recently completed their first semester Box Tops for Education fundraiser.

“Out of over 11,000 box tops collected, Jeewon Chung’s fourth grade class collected almost 1,000 of them,” said Erika Hartley, PTO box tops coordinator. The students received a Dominoes pizza party, courtesy of the Butterfield PTO. A $50 gift card to Lakeshore Learning was presented to Chung.

Teachers of the 12 classrooms who collected the most box tops also received gift cards, as did the teacher of one special education class whose 10 students brought in 350 box tops.

Box Tops for Education is a national rewards program; it offers schools the opportunity to receive 10 cents for every box top collected. Schools use the proceeds for learning programs as well as student and teacher supplies.
