CAC learning centers offer new classes, services

The Learning Center at Central Arizona College has established several new initiatives while continuing its excellent array of services to students on the Signal Peak Campus as well as surrounding communities.

Among its achievements, The Learning Center has established a Reading Club, added science and accounting tutoring to its online offerings, and has sponsored an annual Black History Month Poetry Contest.

The Learning Center provides academic support through a myriad of platforms that affords students an opportunity to develop the strategies and competencies necessary for academic success.

The primary objective is to create a friendly environment that embraces diversity, builds self-confidence, and promotes independent, self-directed learners.

In addition to its math and writing offerings throughout CAC’s campuses and centers, students can receive one-on-one assistance with reading and study-skills, technology in education, and its newly-added science and accounting offerings.

“The Learning Center at CAC is a one-stop shop for students in our community looking to enhance their experience as higher learners,” Barrington Campbell, director of Learning Support, said. “As we attempt to increase our presence at the college, we do so with the overall vision of the Learning Center in mind; that is, to empower its students to take an active role in their learning.”
