Central Arizona College will be offering a pair of free financial aid workshops on Nov. 12 and Dec. 3 at its Signal Peak Campus to help relieve the stress students and parents may feel when filing for higher education financial assistance.

The workshops will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day in Room 100 of the Interactive Learning Center (Building O). Reservations are not necessary, and parents and students may drop in throughout the day.

“Some people do not go to college because they don’t think they can afford it,” Elisa Juarez, the director of financial aid explained. “We want to help educate students and parents on how to apply for financial aid and how to submit an application to receive free money and/or loans through the federal government.”

In addition to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), students will receive one-on-one guidance to search for scholarship opportunities.

To complete the FAFSA, students will need to bring their 2007 Federal Tax Return and W2 forms, and/or verification of nontaxable income. If they are still a dependent, students will need to bring their parents’ tax information.

For more information on the workshops, please contact the Central Arizona College Financial Aid Department by phone (520-494-5425) or e-mail [email protected].
