Pre-registration for Central Arizona College’s English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA or ESL) classes and General Educational Development (GED) courses begins on Monday, Jan. 5.

Students should pre-register at any one of CAC’s nine campuses or centers in Pinal County and must show proof of legal presence in the United States.

Ronny Douglass, who coordinates the district-wide programs from the Casa Grande Center, encourages people to register early.

“During both fall pre-registration periods our GED classes at almost all locations filled up within just a few days,” she explained. “We encourage people to sign up as soon as possible to ensure they get the classes they want.”

The ELAA/ESL and GED classes are divided into a pair of eight-week sessions and are currently provided at no cost to Arizona residents. The first sessions begin on Jan. 20 followed by a second session starting on March 23.

GED courses will be held at Central Arizona College’s Casa Grande, Florence and San Tan centers, as well as at the Superstition Mountain Campus. Auxiliary locations include the Coolidge, Santa Cruz Valley Union (Eloy), San Manuel and Superior high schools, Maricopa Wells Middle School, Mammoth Elementary School, Mt. Vista Junior High School in Oracle, and the Sacaton Community Technology Center.

The ELAA/ESL courses will be taught at the Casa Grande and San Tan centers, Superstition Mountain Campus, Coolidge and Santa Cruz Valley Union high schools and the Maricopa Wells Middle School.
