Car crash delays traffic on SR 347

A car collision at the intersection of Farrell Road and State Route 347 restricted both north and southbound traffic to one lane on each side of the median Wednesday.

The accident briefly shut down all southbound traffic on John Wayne Parkway, and traffic was re-routed around Harrah’s at Ak-Chin Casino. The debris was quickly cleared and the right lane re-opened.

Just before 1 p.m., a white Nissan SUV traveling northbound on SR 347 struck a dark blue Lexus Sedan crossing the intersection. According to initial statements, the SUV had a green light.

The driver and sole occupant of the SUV was observed by first responders on the scene, while the two occupants of the sedan were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
