Permitting delays car wash opening

Delays in a permitting process for a new car wash business at Hathaway Avenue and John Wayne Parkway has caused the company to miss its anticipated spring 2013 opening.

However, Jeff Dadam, CEO of the company that owns and operates the business, said he wants to assure Maricopa residents the new car wash is coming.

“We are 100 percent dedicated to the Maricopa market and we’re very excited to be there,” Dadam said.

The Fast and Friendly Express Carwash will be owned and operated by 3D Development and Holdings, LLC based in Peoria. Other Fast and Friendly locations are in Peoria, Phoenix and Surprise.

Dadam said the March 2013 opening date was a conservative estimate.

The company owns about 1 acre of land that’s part of a large vacant lot. Dadam said the company is nearing the finish line on the permitting process and is expected to break ground next month. Construction will take about four to five months with a possible opening later this year.

Without going into detail, Dadam said the permitting delays were caused in dealings with Pinal County, FEMA and some utility companies, and that the delays were “beyond any group’s control.”

The new car wash is expected to create eight to 12 positions and the company plans to hire local employees, Dadam said.
