Carl’s Jr. is returning to Maricopa.

Sustainability Engineering Group of Scottsdale has filed a pre-application and request for site plan approval with the city for a 2,666 square foot restaurant with a drive-through on behalf of developer Guggenheim Retail Real Estate Partners, LLC.

The restaurant will be on a three-quarters-acre lot southeast of the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Hathaway Avenue on lot 2 of Maricopa Towne Plaza, just north of RILI B’s Taco Shop.

Carl’s Jr. will re-join many other major national fast-food chains with a presence on John Wayne Parkway, including Taco Bell, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King and Sonic.

The company previously operated a restaurant here in town at the location of the current Wendy’s, at 21000 N. John Wayne Parkway. That location closed its doors in December 2018.
