A cell tower could be erected at The Duke at Rancho El Dorado if ongoing negotiations are successful.

The golf course and T-Mobile are discussing a new cellular facility, possibly located near the course clubhouse at 42660 W. Rancho El Dorado Pkwy.

“There are a couple of options out there right now, but nothing set in stone,” said Brian Gribens, general manager of The Duke. “One of the most prominent locations we’re discussing is just west of parking lot, between the lot and the chipping green.”

According to an application submitted to the city, the cellular communications company proposes a 65-foot-tall “broadleaf tree” with a ground equipment enclosure. The proposed site, designed to accommodate multiple carriers, may be visited monthly for routine maintenance, or in the event of a breakdown, “so the proposed use will not impact traffic in the area.”

The application states equipment will be painted to match the pole to ensure minimal visual impact to nearby properties, and will comply with all local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Gribens offered some reassurances for the golfers at the Duke about the facility.
“Whatever we do, if we do it, won’t disrupt play on the course,” he said.

T-Mobile is also seeking approval to build a wireless communication facility as an addition to the existing facility at Copper Sky Regional Park. The facility would be sited on the park’s eastern border, just north of the baseball and softball diamonds.

The cellular company seeks to place six antennas and six radio modules on a new light pole, replacing an existing pole south of the current site.
