Registration is open for Central Arizona College’s Summer Science Camps, a series of free camps geared toward middle and high school students thanks to a grant from Arizona Public Service.
APS Grant Director Suzi Shoemaker has collaborated with CAC science preceptors Crystal McKenna and Tammy Janisko to plan a fun and educational summer for children in grades seven through 10.
Below are the three sessions open for registration:
Middle school camp for incoming grades seven and eight:
San Tan Valley Campus, 2474 E. Hunt Highway, Suite 100, Queen Creek
June 3-6
8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Classroom topics and activities will include polymers, chemistry art, microbiology of ponds, DNA extraction, dissections and live animals.
Chemistry camp for incoming grades eight, nine and 10:
Signal Peak Campus, 8470 N. Overfield Road, Coolidge
June 17-20
8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Topics include, but will not be limited to, polymers, gases, reactions, metals, acids and bases.
Biology camp for incoming grades eight, nine and 10:
Signal Peak Campus
June 24-27
8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
The activities provided will be geared toward microscope use, DNA extraction, bacteria, human enzymes, DNA profile & “crime scene” investigation.
