Maricopa Music Circle Presents Dancing into Springtime on April 2 at UltraStar Multi-tainment Center in Maricopa, Arizona

Maricopa Music Circle Chamber Orchestra will present its Dancing Into Springtime concert on Saturday, April 2, 7 p.m., at Theater 2 of the UltraStar Multi-tainment Center at Ak-Chin Circle, 16000 N. Maricopa Road.

The program includes pieces composed over 4 centuries in a “virtual tour” of the U.S. and Europe.  Featured are rags by Scott Joplin and melodies by film-music composers David Raksin, Henry Mancini and John Williams. Also on the program are Grieg’s Suite from Peer Gynt, Mozart’s Eine kleine Natchmusik, Glazunov’s violin solo Meditation; Silver Swan by British master Orlando Gibbons; a flute-harp duo Intermezzo from Bizet’s Carmen and works by Franz Lehar, Orlande de Lassus, Dvorak and Brahms.

Many of these numbers will be danced, including original interpretations of the waltz, cakewalk, lyric solo, character piece, and czardas by guest artists from Desert Sun Performing Arts.

Founded in 2010 as a small ensemble, Maricopa Music Circle has grown into a true Chamber Orchestra bringing together local Maricopa musicians who primarily are music professionals at a high level. The group performs without a conductor. In addition to its regular schedule of orchestral concerts, throughout the last several seasons MMC has partnered with other Maricopa presenting organizations in the Arts, providing music for Desert Sun Performing Arts, Maricopa Community Theatre and Art on the Veranda among others.
