Chin had six birdies today, including three in a row on the 3, 4 and 5 holes for a 32-35—67. His three-round score of 201 puts him at 15 under par.

That is one stroke ahead of Joon Lee of Avondale and two ahead of Chris Satterlee of Phoenix.

The leader after the first two rounds, Garrett Sapp of Long Beach, California, shot another 33 on his first nine. But he followed seven pars in a row with three consecutive bogeys on 15, 16 and 17 to fall into a tie for third at -13.

The final round of the tournament is tomorrow. The top 23 individuals or ties advance to the Second Qualifying Stage.
