Councilwoman endorses Christian Price for mayor

I hope everyone has enjoyed this President's Day weekend accompanied by the blue sky weather we are famous for. I also hope everyone is aware of our March 13 mail-in city elections are fast approaching and Maricopans will have the opportunity to cast their vote for mayor and three city council seats.

Because there are only two candidates in the race for the mayor's seat, the March 13 primary vote will actually decide who will be our next mayor.

While I have sat on council with Councilmembers Carl Diedrich and Marvin Brown, I also have known candidates Leon Potter, Rosalin Sanhadja, Bridger Kimball and their great involvement in the city.

However, for this election, I have met with mayoral candidate Christian Price on several occasions. After listening to Mr. Price's ideas and views as to how to keep this city moving, I was excited for his candidacy. Not only is he accessible, down-to-earth like a good mayor should be, he is also very aware of the ins-and-outs as to the way our city functions.

As HOA president of Maricopa Meadows, I am aware he has had to be on the front lines of a multitude of problems left by the developers. The Meadows had a whole range of challenges unlike other associations and Mr. Price has lead the charge in resolving many of these issues and continues to push for results. Not an easy task to do at all.

Mr. Price’s education and background is in the financial sector. He has a working experience that I believe is not just ideal, but a need for this city. Having that private sector experience in managing his own small business, Mr. Price is working every day with the complexities of our financial system. I see this as crucial foundation as Maricopa tries to climb out of the recession like the rest of the country.
