A re-vamped 2nd Saturday Market is returning this fall with a grand re-opening Nov. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon. The market runs each month through May. A centerpiece for the market will be Produce on Wheels – With Out Waste (POWWOW), where customers can buy up to 60 pounds of produce for $10.

Other new features will be presentations on healthy eating and “Yoga at the Market.” The city is recruiting businesses that deal in agricultural products, healthy lifestyle and prepared or processed food as well as local artisans and entertainment (face painting, petting zoos, etc.)

To help the Produce on Wheels program flourish, the city is looking for 12-15 volunteers who are willing to commit to the 2nd Saturday of every month November–May.

Captain training is Nov. 7 from 6 a.m. to noon in Gilbert.

All volunteers receive a free box of produce at each market, community service hours, and an invitation to the 2nd Saturday Market Volunteer Recognition Dinner on May 14.
