City to put off considering entering into IGA with MUSD to share facilities

The City Council on Tuesday had planned to discuss and possibly take action on a request to enter into an agreement with the Maricopa Unified School District to waive permits and fees associated with sharing each other’s facilities.

This would have meant the city could use school ball fields for league play, for example, and the district could have used city facilities to meet its needs.

Both city and district officials had expressed an interest in such an arrangement in recent Council meetings.

At Monday’s special session of the MUSD Governing Board, however, the district decided against the proposed intergovernmental agreement, making the matter on tonight’s agenda a moot point unless or until both parties can agree on mutually beneficial terms.
