Clerk secures ‘irreplaceable’ court documents

In an effort to further safeguard public monies and hundreds of thousands of sensitive documents, Clerk of the Superior Court, Chad A. Roche, has authorized the installation of video recording equipment near the vaults, public viewing and cash-handling areas of the main office located in Florence, in accordance with Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123(g)(5)(G).

Each year the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court (COSC) handles upwards of $5 milliondollars in the forms of fees, receipted amounts, bonds, fines and restitutions. Roche  has added another layer of security not only because it is a sound and well-established business practice, but also because other Arizona County Superior Court Clerks, as well as the Arizona Supreme Court Rules, have set precedent. The cameras will also function to protect the safety of the COSC employees.

“Bottom line, I am charged with the stewardship of irreplaceable documents,” said Roche.  “Pinal County citizens deserve the same protections from the Clerk’s office that other Arizona counties currently have,” he continued.

It is Roche’s hope that the enhanced security will be well accepted by the public. He welcomes feedback from the general public, via the website at www.pinalcountyaz.gov/COSC.
