Coffee with Chief targets blocked-off streets, CPR

Attendees at Saturday’s Coffee with the Chief will learn where to access alternative routes when public-safety officials need to close off streets, and get some CPR training in honor of American Hearth Month.

Police Chief not only will talk alternative driving routes when police close roads, but why and how police operate traffic control the way they do.

“Residents need to know how to get to Tortosa if Honeycutt Road is closed,” said Maricopa Police spokesman Ricky Alvarado.

This month’s topic comes after police closed Honeycutt Road Jan. 21 during a police chase that ended in an officer-involved shooting. The suspect later was charged on suspicion of three felony counts: disorderly conduct, unlawful flight from a law enforcement vehicle and aggravated assault.

Firefighters will kick off Saturday's meeting with a lesson on current CPR procedure.

The monthly public-safety meeting begins at 8 a.m. and this month will be held at the Donald N. Pearce Fire Station No. 575 at 45695 W. Edison Road.
