On Saturday, Maricopa Police Cmdr. James Hughes, Detective Mike Burns and Block Watch coordinator Terrell Hoffman will lead a discussion on preventing home and vehicle burglaries; what a member of the public should do if he or she is burglarized; and how police investigate burglaries.

The public is invited to this month’s Coffee with the Chief, an informal discussion with residents on crime and law-enforcement issues. Previous coffees have including information on traffic laws, holiday shopping safety, gun laws, safe havens and animal control.

The event is 8 to 9:30 a.m., and hosted this month by the M.A.S.H Coalition, 20046 N. John Wayne Parkway, Suite 101. The Maricopa, Ak-Chin, Stanfield and Hidden Valley Coalition works to reduce and eliminate substance abuse by working on community needs.

Honeycutt Coffee will provide coffee.

Coffee with the Chief is the second Saturday of the month; topics are chosen by community members. Police Chief Steve Stahl will not be at this month’s gathering because he is attending the FBI Leadership Academy in Quantico, Va.
