One of the city’s most hotly anticipated sit-down restaurants has adjusted its construction timeline.

Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers was initially slated to open a Maricopa location at Sonoran Creek Marketplace this summer.

But buildout delays have pushed the opening to November, according to Square One Concepts, the company behind the burger chain.

The location, at 20350 N. John Wayne Pkwy, Suite 160, is on the north end of Sonoran Creek behind Culver’s and will be the 14th in the Arizona chain’s portfolio. The company has created a niche with burger and beer lovers with its expansive selection of draft beers and gourmet burgers since its founding in North Scottsdale in 2011.

The Maricopa restaurant will feature more than 150 beers and have the largest bar of all its locations in Arizona, stretching more than 50 feet long. There will be plenty of room to spread out, as the site will span about 5,000 square feet. In addition, a 2,000-square-foot patio will accommodate 100 patrons. The patio, which will be misted, will be available for private events as well.

Interior amenities will include the chain’s signature plush leather booths, 50 HD flat screen TVs showing sports and a state-of-the-art sound system.

Tracy Frazier, chief operating office of Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers, said the offerings at the Maricopa location will be tailored to the needs of the community. Maricopa is well-suited to such a concept, he said.

“The demographics really support a location there,” Frazier said when the location was announced. “We’ve looked at Maricopa a handful of times in the past few years. That market is dramatically underserved for sit-down restaurants.”

Real estate executive Chuck Wells agreed that Maricopa is ripe for such an offering.

“I’m super excited about what’s happening down there in Maricopa with the growth and an educated workforce,” said Wells, senior vice president at Kidder Mathews retail real estate brokerage in Phoenix, when the site was announced. “We like that. It’s a clean city and there’s pride of ownership down there. When I finally drag people (from the restaurant industry) down there, they come back and go, ‘Yeah, we need to be here.’”

Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers has 12 locations with two other sites besides Maricopa set to open this year – at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix and in Oro Valley near Tucson.

Restaurant hours will be 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Happy hour will be 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and will feature $4 domestic beers, $5 Four Peaks pints, $6 select appetizers and their signature All-American Burger accompanied with chips for $10.50.
