Going for green: City sets community cleanup event

The city of Maricopa is inviting residents to pitch in for the “The Largest City Cleanup in Maricopa History” on Saturday, July 31 from 6-8 a.m.

The litter-busting event is part of the Keep Maricopa Beautiful campaign.

Those who wish to participate can go to this city event page and scan the QR code to find locations with litter that needs to be picked up. Litter locations are marked with a blue point and volunteers can click on that point for site-specific project tips and disposal options.

Once a location has been cleaned up volunteers will send an email with a photo and the point number that was completed to [email protected] and the map will be updated to a green flower to show that it was done. The city will update the map as sites are completed until the entire city goes green.

The city reminds everyone who participates to wear proper safety attire and practice good safety habits.
