School is out. Summer is here. Parents, you can still provide your children with fun and socialization while maintaining their individual reading skills. Enroll them in Maricopa Community Library’s 2005 Summer Reading Program. Activities began last Tuesday and will continue until July 13.

Teen Reader’s Café for students ages 13 and up begins each Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. followed by a social hour until 4:30 p.m. Program dates are June 15, 22, 29 and July 6, 13.

Thursdays will afford students from the ages of eight through 12 the opportunity to participate in reader’s theater at 9:30 a.m. followed by crafts and a social hour until 11:30 a.m. The dates for this age group are June 16, 23, 30 and July 7, 14.

“Going to Bat for Books” is a brand new program sponsored by the City of Maricopa in partnership with El Dorado Holdings. Reading multiple books this summer will add up to a home run for students. The first 35 children who make a home run will receive a pair of Diamondback game tickets.

All these programs are free of charge and open to children of all ages and abilities. It’s not too late to register your child or children. For further information, call the library at (520) 568-2926 or PRL Director Marty McDonald at (520) 568-9098 Ext.204.
