After a weekend of cloudy weather and high winds, a sunny cool front is expected to move into the area and keep temperatures in the mid 50s for most of the week.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to stay in the 50s through Wednesday before returning to the 60s later in the week. The wind is also expected to calm to 5 mph for much of the upcoming week.

Monday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high near 59 degrees. The wind is expected to stay calm near 5 mph, but gusts could reach up to 10 mph throughout the day. Clouds are expected to move in Monday evening, and there is a 10 percent chance of rain overnight. The overnight low is expected to drop to 35 degrees.

The storm may last into Tuesday morning, and the NWS predicts a 20 percent chance of rain before 11 a.m. The clouds should clear to sunny skies by the afternoon, and the projected high is 56 degrees. The wind is expected to stay calm near 5 mph, and the overnight low is expected to dip to 29 degrees.

Morning commuters should watch for black ice Wednesday morning. If there is any sitting water from the storms on Monday and Tuesday, they could freeze and present a driving hazard on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high near 58 degrees. The wind is once again expected to stay calm near 5 mph, and the overnight low is projected to drop to 31 degrees. Clouds may move in overnight, but no moisture is expected.

The low pressure front is expected to move out of the area on Thursday, and temperatures are expected to return to the 60s. The forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of 62 degrees. The wind should remain calm, and the overnight low should drop to 34 degrees.

New Year’s Day and the rest of the weekend are shaping up to be sunny days in the mid 60s. More information will be available as the week comes to a close.
