Aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in Rockport, Texas, where Copa Central Command is headed this month.

In a little more than two weeks the local volunteer effort to help Hurricane Harvey victims will load into vehicles stocked with supplies and head toward Rockport, Texas.

Copa Central Command leaves Sept. 26 and has accepted donations from the community since early September, soon after the hurricane hit.

The convoy’s Leader, Jim Shoaf, said the group has received many donations in the form of toiletries and food.

Now they need building supplies and tools, he said.

“We are going to go into their homes and we are going to fix their walls and whatever they need so they can get back in their houses,” Shoaf said.

Suggested items:

  • Nails
  • Screws
  • 2×4’s
  • 2×6’s
  • Plywood
  • Battery operated tools

Supplies can be donated at the CCC truck Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. located at the Fry’s Marketplace parking lot.

Donation drop-off bins are also located at MUSD schools and various Maricopa businesses.
