Halloween costumes, games, lots of treats and even a pirate ship’s cannon that shot out tootsie rolls – those were the highlights of the 2nd Annual Safe Halloween event on Monday, sponsored by Fry’s Shopping Plaza merchants and the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce.
Parents and kids “walked the plank” for treats at Fry’s Halloween event.
The 6 p. m. costume contest at Fry’s Marketplace had 153 entrees. Joel Fonesca won $75 for his grand prize winning costume; he came as Davey Jones of “Pirates of the Caribbean” film fame. Nine other costumer winners received $25 each. In addition, Water & Ice donated a gift basket won by Kim Miller Won at the end of the event.
