“In an effort to keep residents informed on the latest city news I am holding quarterly community meetings,” said Councilmember Henry Wade. “This is an opportunity for residents to learn about what is happening in the city as well as a chance for them to speak directly to me and our staff to ask questions and share input.”

The topic of the August Councilmember on the Corner is the Housing Needs Assessment. City of Maricopa Development Services Director Martin Scribner, Zoning Administrator Kazi Haque and Economic Development Specialist Mary Wolf-Francis will be present and available to answer questions on the process of the assessment, the final report and the economic impacts associated with housing initiatives in the community.

Refreshments will be served.

On July 18, 2017, the City Council officially approved the Housing Needs Assessment conducted by Atria Planning LLC. Directed by the goals of Planning Maricopa (the General Plan), the effort was initiated and formally accepted in the FY16/17 Work Plan. Starting in January 2017, the study began to assess the housing needs of the community over the next 10 years. With an approved scope of work, Atria and City Planning Staff facilitated specific public engagement, conducting interviews, surveys, focus group meetings, and researching local and regional housing data.
