Six Maricopa establishments inspected by the Pinal County Health Department last week all received passing grades.

Circle K at 21212 N. John Wayne Parkway, Quizno’s Sub at 20987 N. John Wayne Parkway, suite B106, AFC Sushi in Fry’s Marketplace at 20797 N. John Wayne Parkway, Maricopa Shell Food Mart at 19680 N. John Wayne Parkway, and The Duke at Rancho El Dorado at 42660 W. Rancho El Dorado Parkway, each earned the grade of E.

Nice N’ Cozy Childcare Inc. at 50522 W. Mayer Boulevard earned an S.

The inspections are completely random and are aimed at ensuring that all the proper safety steps are being taken to maintain consumer safety, county officials said.

To ensure consumer safety the department can issue violations that are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations must be fixed immediately and affect a location’s score. Non-critical violations must be fixed within 90 days.

Grades are based on the number of violations with an E, for excellent, being the highest possible score an establishment can receive. Other scores are an S for satisfatory, U for unacceptable and an N for needs improvement.

If an establishment receives a U or an N they can not operate until violations are addressed. They also risk being shut down permanently by the state.
