CVS Pharmacy at Smith Enke Road was robbed Tuesday by a man with a gun just hours after a female suspect robbed Great Western Bank.

Police said the robberies are not connected.

“We have two different MOs, two different suspects,” said Maricopa Police Officer Ricardo Alvarado, the department’s spokesman.

A white male, at least 6 feet tall, wearing gloves and dressed all in black went to the pharmacy counter about 1:11 p.m. and asked for prescription pain medication. “He displayed a gun in the waistband of his pants,” Alvarado said.

The suspect was seen leaving in a gold-color car, possibly a Chrysler Sebring driven by a woman, Alvarado said.

“We are not releasing any information at this time whether he left with anything," he said.

There were no injuries, and police were called after the fact.

In the 9:30 a.m. Great Western Bank robbery at the Maricopa Manor Business Center, police were notified by a silent alarm. MPD is assisting the FBI in that case.

Tuesday afternoon the CVS was cordoned off and police were still interviewing employees. The drugstore was reopened by 3:30 p.m.
