The City of Maricopa Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department recently hosted their semi-annual dance recital titled Fall Festival of Dance at Pima Butte Elementary School. Over 275 proud parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters showed up to watch 75 girls, ranging from three years to 12 years of age, perform.

“Our dance program is the most successful class we have going,” Parks and Recreation Director Marty McDonald stated. “This program builds character, increases self esteem and provides a safe environment for kids to learn in.”

Under the direction of lead instructor Elizabeth Fujimoto, the dancers performed seven different routines. Everyone in attendance was treated to punch and cookies after the show.

“The Fall Festival Dance Performance was a wonderful success,” Fujimoto stated. “We had approximately 75 beautiful dancers dance to their hearts’ content for their parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors. I am so proud of these girls for getting up and performing in front of 275 people with only seven weeks of dance class. They did an excellent job. I am proud to be a part of the Maricopa Parks, Recreation and Library Department and to work with the families in the community to teach these wonderful children how to dance. The dancers were beautiful, and they brought much pleasure, joy and smiles to those who watched them perform.”
