Desert Wind Middle School goes pink(video)

Friday, Oct. 24 was a day of pink at Desert Wind Middle School.

School staffers, leadership and even students dressed in their pinkest gear in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer.

The idea for the day of pink came from someone who knows the disease firsthand, Desert Wind secretary Diane Vigil.

Vigil herself is a breast cancer survivor and when she saw a flyer at a local grocery store promoting awareness about the disease, she decided to do something.

Vigil contacted the company who put out the flyers, City of Hope, and got more than 700 bracelets and 60 pins donated to the school.

Each person who donated a dollar or more recieved one of these items from her.

For more information on breast cancer visit www.CityofHope.org or if you would like to get a bracelet from the school, call (520) 568-7110.
