The Maricopa Police Department will participate in DUI saturation patrols Memorial Day weekend as part of the Pinal County Regional DUI Task Force.
The task force will begin its patrols at 7 p.m. Friday and continue through Sunday, said Elias Johnson, spokesman for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
Efforts will be directed at detecting and arresting drivers impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.
Several officers with specialized training in DUI detection will be assigned to work enforcement details around the Queen Creek area. Officers from Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Casa Grande, Coolidge and Eloy are scheduled to patrol. The saturation patrols will begin each night and run until the early morning hours.
