Maricopa is getting a dusty start to the weekend after an abrupt change in the local forecast.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 10-percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon along with blowing dust.

Today will be cloudy and hot with a high near 113, according to the NWS. Breezes from the south will become winds at 15 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.

The blowing dust is expected to continue until around 7 p.m. Overnight the low will be around 81 degrees.

Friday, expect sunny skies and a high near 108. Overnight, the low will be around 80 under mostly clear skies.

Saturday will be similar, with sunny skies during the day and a high of 107. The nighttime low will be around 82.

Sunday is forecast to be sunny and hot with a high near 110 and an overnight low of 84. Monday will be much the same, but NWS is calling for a slight chance of showers in the middle of next week.
