The Economic Development Committee is hosting the second in a series of meetings on “Destination Maricopa” July 23 at 6:00 p.m. at Headquarters Restaurant. The public meeting is a continuation of the ongoing discussion on the redevelopment of downtown Maricopa and all interested parties are encouraged to attend.
The evening will feature a guest speaker from the Arizona Department of Commerce who will provide an overview of what it takes to redevelop a downtown area and how the Department of Commerce can help in that process. There will also be a brainstorming session to further develop ideas for the future of Maricopa’s downtown area.
According to Councilman Will Dunn, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, the group intends to identify a direction from the concepts generated during the first two meetings and begin executing the plan as early as mid August.
In addition to Councilman Dunn, the City’s Economic Development Committee consists of Councilman Stephen Baker, Ms. Mona Jones, Ms. Rosemary LeClercq, Ms. Emily Picket and Councilwoman Phyllis Von Fleckinger. The Committee will likely expand by another six members in the near future.
If you are planning on attending the event, please RSVP to Councilman Dunn via email to ensure sufficient seating is available.
