Romo and Ochoa are likely familiar voices to Greater Phoenix’s Spanish-listening sports fans as they are the official voices of the Phoenix Suns on the team’s radio broadcasts on Radio Fiesta KSUN 1400. Romo is a Douglas, Arizona, native and attended both the University of Arizona and Arizona State University, earning a broadcasting degree from the latter. Ochoa hails from Cananea, Sonora, Mexico and is a graduate of Northern Interamericana University. They worked for the Diamondbacks and Suns, respectively, before joining forces with Deportes al Máximo in 2004, which subsequently led to earning their current broadcasting role with the NBA’s best team.

“We are excited about coming down to the exploding city of Maricopa,” exclaimed Romo. “And to be able to help promote the community’s inaugural salsa festival is ‘salsa on the chip.'”

Tune in Saturday beginning at 12 noon to listen to Romo and Ochoa in Maricopa and arrive at the Maricopa Salsa Festival Presented by inmaricopa.com early to meet the hosts in person.

Note: There is a chance regular programming on ESPN Radio will be preempted by the NBA Playoffs, thus canceling the Deportes al Máximo appearance. Re-visit this article or email [email protected] beginning Thursday for final decision.

UPDATE: ESPN IS PREEMPTING ALL LOCAL PROGRAMMING IN FAVOR OF THE NBA PLAYOFFS SO DEPORTES AL MAXIMO WILL NOT BE BROADCASTING FROM MARICOPA HIGH SCHOOL SATURDAY.
