Senior Information Expo & Health Fair

Jan 16, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

The City of Maricopa is hosting a free Senior Information Expo and Health Fair on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall. Attendees will be able to access valuable resources about healthcare, elder law and legal concerns, fall prevention, senior services in Maricopa, transportation options, smoke and CO2 detectors, veterans services and resources, hearing and vision, Alzheimer’s and dementia, mental and behavioral health, the You Are Not Alone program (YANA), identity theft and fraud, recreation and leisure programs, emergency medical services, Maricopa’s Age-Friendly Initiative, crime prevention and more!

The City of Maricopa is one of nine pilot sites throughout Arizona and the only city in Pinal County implementing a statewide initiative to help our cities become more “Age-Friendly.” Part of becoming more “Age-Friendly” is connecting people who are aging (or those caring for others who are aging) with information, resources and services.

“The goal of the Senior Information Expo and Health Fair is to increase public awareness of resources, services and initiatives for those 60 plus or those caring for aging parents especially as it pertains to healthcare,” said Arnold Jackson, the Age-Friendly Maricopa Coordinator.

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, 11 percent of Maricopa’s residents are over the age of 60, with another 10 percent reaching that age by 2020, which will represent over 20 percent of our population.
