The 1857 Battle on the Gila

As part of the Maricopa Historical Society speaker series, Steve Hoza, museum archivist/conservator at the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, will address the 1857 Battle on the Gila River, which was the last battle between Native American tribes in American history. He grew up Phoenix, studied History at Arizona State University, and now lives in Tempe, Arizona. Steve has done extensive research on the history of central Arizona. He also has published a book on the German POW camp in the Phoenix area.
