Maricopa Historical Society presents Dan Judkins, an independent historian who has spent extensive time researching the historic trails of
our area. He will share multiple passages where various ’49ers describe their time as they rested and recovered for a few days in the general area of Maricopa Wells on their way to the California gold fields. These encounters were usually described in very positive terms. Numerous details about the local people are included in those descriptions. He has personally walked the entire 260 miles of the Santa Cruz River, included in the historic trails of our area.
