Exceptional Community Hospital unveiled its first expansion on Wednesday, less than eight months after opening, with its Fast Track ER.

Fast Track ER is designed to reduce wait times at the hospital and will be available 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Alongside reducing wait times, Fast Track ER also added six rooms to the hospital for a total of 14 rooms.

“It allows us to give the patients more capacity, quicker throughput and better service” said COO Bruce McVeigh.

Exceptional Community Hospital is also discussing possible additions such as endoscopy, orthopedics and primary care options, McVeigh said.

ECH-Maricopa’s 20,000-square-foot Phase 1 debuted early this year with a state-of-the-art facility that includes a specialty internal-medicine hospital, 24-hour emergency department, digital imaging suite, in-house laboratory, and hospital beds for acute admissions and overnight observation of patients.

Additionally, in partnership with higher-level hospitals in the Phoenix area, Exceptional Community Hospital features a landing area for air ambulances to ensure the fastest transfer of patients needing a higher level of care.

Exceptional Community Hospital is located at 19060 N. John Wayne Pkwy.
