A reported gas leak Tuesday at Maricopa Station was a false alarm, according to city spokesman Luis Vila.

Maricopa Fire and Medical teams responded to a report of a gas leak at the retail center at the northeast corner of John Wayne Parkway and Smith-Enke Road.

“I spoke with (Fire and Medical) and they were called on reports of a potential gas leak at Starbucks and Jersey Mike’s but upon inspection, there were no gas leaks found in either establishment,” Vila said. “They surveyed all of the other buildings in the vicinity and confirmed there were no gas leaks.”

Employees of both establishments had reported smelling gas in their building which triggered the inspection. Vila did not give a reason for what may have caused the odor smelled by the employees.
