A Maricopa fast food operator is looking to build another restaurant in the city.
Three years after Burger King opened in Edison Pointe, the same franchisee has proposed a second restaurant along Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
Barnett Management Co. of Avondale, the family owned and operated company that opened along John Wayne Parkway in 2018, has proposed a restaurant of about 3,200 square feet. In business since 1980, Barnett has more than 50-plus Burger King franchises in Arizona, with dozens in the Valley.
Preliminary plans have been filed with the city. Barnett is making some changes after a first review of the site plan and will resubmit when ready, according to Brad Flahiff, director of development for Barnett.
The restaurant would be constructed next to the Maricopa Kids’ Dentists & Orthodontists practice in the The Wells, near Walmart
The architect on the project is ONE! Architecture of Phoenix.
According to a project narrative filed with the city by the architect, the building would be placed on the west part of the site, with a dual drive thru to the north and parking to the east.
Pending any changes, Barnett would build Burger King’s new prototype restaurant.
Flahiff said the hope is to break ground at the site by the end of the year.
“We’ll see, it’s pretty early in the process,” he said.
