With decades of experience, Assistant Chief Bobby Miller came to the Maricopa Fire Department from Mesa Fire in 2014 to help Chief Brady Leffler re-organize and train a top-notch crew.

Favorite part of job: Inspiring others to perform at their highest level

Least favorite part of job: Negative employees, of which we have very few

Scariest moment on the job: Entering a two story, smoke- filled, poorly- built home, as a single firefighter with a report of children trapped in the second-floor bedroom and sensing flashover conditions.  

Bravest act you’ve witnessed: Mesa Firefighter Greg Fleger’s attitude for recovery of third degree burns suffered on a drill that I attended.

What you wish everyone knew: Maricopa Fire units are tracked by satellite to ensure the closest unit receives the call for assistance. The crews that arrive are dedicated, talented, courageous and truly care about their community.
